Train as a samurai at a real working dojo in central Kyoto — genuine practice, not a tourist show. Yushinkan is an authentic iaido dojo in the lineage of Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, where local students train regularly. In that same dojo, international visitors take a 90-minute hands-on samurai training session. You'll practice the same kata as our students with an iaito (training sword) and take a kata exam with Yushin-sensei. You'll also see, up close, a demonstration by a master shihan known as the "Modern-day Musashi" for his rare two-sword (nito) technique. A real katana is shown for close viewing — and to feel its weight, sheathed — with safety the priority. Beginners and families welcome.
